We care about what you put in your body and the impact we have on the environment, and we know you do too. That’s why we only use organic cotton in our range of products.
Did you know that a woman uses over 12,000 tampons in a lifetime, yet regular (non natural/non certified organic) tampons may include nasties like like polyethylene, polypropylene, rayon, bleach and cotton that is grown using pesticides.
How We’re Different
No Bleach Use in Our Tampons
The FDA states that bleached tampons are safe, and that the level of dioxins—a very dangerous chemical, and a by-product of bleaching—are so low that they pose no health risk.
Having said that, people shouldn’t underestimate the effects of dioxin as maybe one off it is OK, but when you use tampon after tampon, those chemicals can build up, and personally – we would rather err on the side of caution. That’s why we do not do any bleaching.
No Other Nasties
Generally tampons are made from cotton, rayon, and synthetic fibers. Conventional tampons have odor neutralizers, dyes, pesticides, and fragrances, which have an undisclosed mixture of chemicals that have been linked to endocrine disrupters, allergies, rashes, respiratory distress, cancer, birth defects, dryness, and infertility.
Yikes – We didn’t like the sound of that, so we only use 100% Organic Cotton in our products.
A Note about Toxic Shock Syndrome
You’ve likely heard of toxic shock syndrome (TSS), the rare but life-threatening infection that’s linked to tampons. But risk for TSS has nothing to do with whether your tampon is organic or not.
